Why This MattersRead the earlier reference in its original context, with its historical statements and limits preserved.
Type: Value commitment. When: When work or financial plans affect trust, reciprocity or shared life.
R19 / Treat Relationships As Ends As Well As Support
Type: Value commitment. When: When work or financial plans affect trust, reciprocity or shared life.
Action: Listen accurately, make agreements explicit and repair avoidable harm. Include the other person in decisions that affect their obligations.
Exception or boundary: Relationships cannot be valued only by their earning potential. Trust need not require unlimited disclosure or access.
Check: Mutually chosen indicators of agreement quality and unresolved conflict; no monetary relationship score. Basis: Charter.
R20 / Maintain Honest And Proportionate Boundaries
Type: Value commitment. When: When privacy, safety, negotiation or repeated conflict is involved.
Action: State limits clearly where feasible, protect sensitive information and use appropriate support. Separate verified conduct from assumed motives.
Exception or boundary: Cooperation does not require tolerating harm. Defensive tactics must remain within the ethical commitments of R01.
Check: Boundary clarity, actual incidents and effectiveness of the agreed response. Basis: Charter; S00 revision.
R21 / Make Health And Care Real Constraints
Type: Value commitment. When: When a plan depends on additional hours, risk or unpaid labor.
Action: Document sustainable hours, caregiving coverage, accessibility and effects on others. Decline plans that require unavailable capacity.
Exception or boundary: A less profitable option can be preferred for health, dignity or care. Financial arithmetic cannot decide those values for the household.
Check: Hours available, care coverage, access requirements and self-defined limits. Basis: Charter; case C03.
