Feasible Choices And Tradeoffs
Why This MattersRead the earlier reference in its original context, with its historical statements and limits preserved.
Define the available actions and disclosed scenarios while keeping cash, ethics, care, health, legal, and time constraints distinct. A financial result does not settle the whole decision.
The philosophy becomes operational by defining which choices are genuinely available. Let A be the explicitly listed actions and S the disclosed scenarios. For an action a, keep ethical, care, health, legal and time checks separate. Each check can be satisfied, failed or unknown.
K(S) is a set of actions and F is the reserve floor. In machine data these are named feasible_actions and reserve_floor. The financial engine evaluates only the cash condition. The other checks require a documented human judgment and are not inferred from financial records.
Two Elementary Consistency Properties
Adding scenarios cannot enlarge the known feasible set when actions and other assumptions are held fixed: every action satisfying the larger set must also satisfy its subset. Raising the required cash floor cannot enlarge it either: satisfying a higher lower bound implies satisfying the lower one. These are direct consequences of the definition, not novel mathematical results.
A count of actions is not a complete freedom measure. Ten costly or inaccessible alternatives may offer less practical choice than one reliable option. If the known feasible set is empty, review constraints, assumptions and possible assistance; do not treat the result as a judgment of the person.
